Program Overview
The Electrical Technology (ET) program at Sollers Point Tech offers students opportunities for hands-on experience under the supervision of a Master Electrician. Students learn electrical theory in order to troubleshoot cirdcuits and problem-solve. They also plan, design and construct a variety of residential and commercial electrical projects. Our program has a real-world focus that has employers standing in line to hire our students. Upon successful completion of the program, our students have the opportunity to start their electrical apprenticeship early (while still in high school). This saves money and time, and affords a higher earning potential.
Certifications
Our program offers students certifications through the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Both Core Curriculum: Introductory Craft Skills and Electrical Level 1 certifications are possible through successful completion. The electrical program is a NCCER Accredited Training and Education Facility (ATEF) that provides the pathway to national certification through the NCCER's National Registry.
Apprenticeships
Associated Builders and Contractors(ABC), Sollers Point Tech and BCPS are partnered to provide students the opportunity to enter into the second year of electrical apprenticeship. Contact Mr. Plantholt for more information.
